This quick easy banana bread recipe is perfect for beginners! Just a few ingredients for a homemade bakery-style loaf.

2 cups flour
1/2 cup melted butter (shortening or cooking oil)
3/4 cup granulated sugar (white sugar)
2 eggs
3 overripe bananas, mashed
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300F. Grease loaf pan with baking spray or with 1 tablespoon shortening spread using a baking brush. Sprinkle with flour. Or line the loaf pan with parchment paper.
- Mash bananas with a fork. Set aside.
- Cream sugar and butter using an electric mixer.
- Add eggs one at a time and beat again until smooth. Add mashed bananas.
- Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together.
- Add flour mixture onto the egg mixture alternately with buttermilk ending with the dry ingredients.
- Bake in the center rack for 70-75 minutes. Bake time may vary, so perform the toothpick test around the 65th minute. Cool for about an hour.
- Remove from the loaf pan, slice, and serve.

Make banana nut bread using the same recipe by adding a cup of nuts, such as pecans, or walnuts.
